Is a land of stark contrasts, surprising for its hard working inhabitants that have transformed the arid surroundings to make them suitable for cultivation in "bancales" (earth pits) built into the gullies and steep slopes of the borough.

On the coast in front of Los Roques, is the little beach and village of the same name.

The houses make good use of the rock and cling to the slopes down toward the beach and old dock, still used for loading agricultural produce and other coastal traffic.

La Hondura cliff is of scientific interest for its vegetation and the marine birds that take refuge and reproduce in its nooks.

Among the sites of most interest are the old San Joaquín hermitage and the new church, restored after a fire in 1918, as well as the old Fasnia Church (17th Century), the Fuente Nueva (New Fountain) and Puente de los Tres Ojos Lookout.
