Is the second largest borough on the island. Its aridity is offset by the continuous agricultural effort that has created excellent garden farms.

As well, since pre-Hispanic times, livestock have played an important role in the local economy.

Of tourist interest are the San Juan Bautista Church, Icor Country House (Caserío) and the district of Arico el Nuevo.
