Declared a Natural Park in 1987, it was subsequently reclassified in 1994 as a Canary Natural Space, and is still a protected area for wild birds.
Also contains the nature reserves Ijuana, Pijara and Roques de Anaga; as well as paleontological sites of great scientific interest.
This park demonstrates the perfect fusion between plants and rocks and is worth the view. The higher zones abound in vegetation and provide most of the aquifers that pass through the ravines of the massif. The flora of interest includes the large number of laurel, savin, thistle and spurge trees; while its fauna covers protected species as well as some 30 on the extinction list.
